Our Luxurious Jamaican Getaway

Let me start off by saying that I love Jamaica. My husband and I have been there twice now and it is such a beautiful place to vacation. We went for our honeymoon in June of 2015 and again this past November. Both trips were incredible and we had perfect weather every day each time.

During our trip in November, we stayed at the incredible Secrets Wild Orchid in Montego Bay. Secrets is a luxury brand of resorts that are all-inclusive, which means all of your food and beverages are fully included during your stay. At Secrets, you get unlimited food, unlimited drinks including top-shelf liquor, 24 hour room service, and pool and beach side wait service.

The resort has 9 different restaurants on property to choose from, all featuring different cuisines. There is Blue Mountain (Jamaican), El Patio (Mexican), Portofino (Italian), Bordeaux (French), Himitsu (Pan-Asian with the option for Hibachi), Oceana (Seafood), Seaside Grill (Grilled Cuisine), Barefoot Grill (Ocean-side Grill) and an World Cafe (International Buffet). There are also 9 different bars on property, my favorites being the swim up bars which allow for easy access to your favorite drinks while enjoying the pool and ocean, and the Piano Bar, a Cuban themed lounge that is front and center to all of the nightly live entertainment which is always so enjoyable. There is also Coco Café on site for all your coffee, tea, and espresso needs, including coffee liqueurs and cocktails. I'm not ashamed to admit that I got an iced "Royal Delight" with soy milk every day, which is a coffee cocktail featuring espresso, Irish cream, and orange-flavored liqueur - and no, I did not wait until noon! The cafe has small pastries and grab and go bites as well. Typically, Coco Café is open 24 hours, but in November they were still operating with some Covid restrictions and closed around midnight.

Secrets Wild Orchid is right beside another Secrets resort called Secrets St. James and any guest staying at either resort has full access to both resort properties and their amenities. There are multiple luxurious pools and hot tubs on the properties, tons of lounge chairs and umbrellas set up by the pools and on the beach for sun bathing or sitting under the shade with a good book, beautiful grounds with immaculate gardens, and so many activities and options entertainment. Not to mention the incredible, warm Caribbean Sea. What more could you possibly want?

One of the excursions we chose to go on during our stay was a Dreamers catamaran trip to the famous Rick's Cafe in Negril. We really loved this. The excursion included a Jamaican lunch on the catamaran, unlimited drinks from the bar, a stop for snorkeling in the crystal Caribbean waters, sight-seeing along the way, plenty of music and dancing on the catamaran, and then cliff jumping and watching the sunset at Rick's Cafe. My husband, Stephen, loved the cliff jumping. There are three cliff heights to jump from - 10', 25' and 35'. Stephen had no problem jumping several times from the 35' cliff. I'm a bit less adventurous and pretty scared of heights, but I did jump from the 10' cliff and that was fun. As the sun started setting, we sat and watched it from the cliff sides. The view of the sunset from there is one of the best in Jamaica. The entire day was a really amazing and unforgettable experience!

On one of our last days, we took relaxation to the next level with a couple's massage at the Secrets Spa Pevonia. The massages were wonderful and the service was world class. After our massages, we spent time enjoying the sauna, steam room, and whirlpools located within the spa. We were given fluffy robes and enjoyed hot teas and fruit infused waters. We felt so pampered!

I am a big fan of the Secrets brand and I would highly recommend them. I am looking forward to trying out some of their other resorts in different locations, as well as other all-inclusive resort brands very soon!

Have you been to Jamaica? Did you stay at an all-inclusive resort? What was your experience? I'd love for you to share in the comments!
